If I bring new electronics to Mexico and declare them, will I have to pay a duty?

Or do they let some declared items go through duty-free? I want to bring a cordless phone to my home.

I believe you can bring in items of a value of $ 50.00 as a gift. however…you can buy cordless phones in Mexico for prices similar to those in the U.S. Why not just buy one here…at walmart or Sam’s, or a local store? Of course, if it is in your bag, your chances of being searched are slim..but still, they are readily available. here.

You should be okay, just take it out of the box and set the manual aside to give you a better chance. If it looks like it can be resold then they ask more questions.

if you are willing to declare they will tax you like 15%, I´ve done that with my flat screen brought it from El Paso Tx to Chihuahua.
